FCC’s mission is simple.
We help people find their way back to God by connecting, growing
and serving.
This mission is based on 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (The Message)
18 All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between
us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each
other. 19 God put the world square with himself through the Messiah,
giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has
given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. 20 We’re
Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women
to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things
right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become
friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.
Our Mission Expanded
Led by the Holy Spirit, we . . .
Connect with God, one another and the world, through Jesus Christ.
Grow as we surrender to Christ and embrace His teaching.
Are humbled by Christ’s love and example to Serve.
FCC Goals
First Christian Church is in the second year of a five-year vision driven
by three primary pursuits:
- To grow as a regional church influencing Council Bluffs, Omaha Metro, and
southwest Iowa.
- To reach the next 900 people that God is calling us to reach.
- To broaden the physical base of operations for First Christian Church through
dual-site ministry model.
What is dual-site ministry?
FCC is committed to expanding its impact through as many locations as
God makes available in the years to come. In May of 2005, the church
opened a second location. The “Orchard Campus” is located
on Hwy 92, east of State Orchard Road. The downtown campus is being referred
to as the “Heritage Campus.” Both sites offer Sunday
worship and full children’s programming. During the week, the Orchard
Campus specializes in developing ministry to children and youth.
The Heritage Campus specializes in further developing ministry to
adults and senior adults.
We are one church worshipping
in two locations, experiencing four worship services, and many ministry
opportunities.
Commitment to Lifestyle
There are 10 statements that guide our lifestyle as a Church.
1. We will search for the activity of God and pursue it. The bottom
line to every question will be, “Is this God’s desire?”
2. Reaching lost people is God’s main desire. Therefore, everything
will be organized with that central purpose.
3. We will undergird everything with prayer and intend to walk by faith
and not by sight.
4. All matters will be measured against the Scriptures. Biblical doctrine
is not negotiable; methods will be constantly evaluated. We will submit ourselves to constant adjustment that allows for growth.
We
cannot get overly comfortable.
5. We see the church as a hospital for sinners; therefore, an attitude
and atmosphere of grace will abound.
6. Challenges will be dealt with, not ignored. Criticism, murmuring
and slander will not be allowed to disrupt the fellowship of the Lord’s
Church.
7. We seek to serve diligently, efficiently and effectively.
8. We are an elder-guided, staff-driven church. Pastors and staff will
be allowed to initiate and lead with trust, support and prayers of the
church.
9. Our church family seeks to strengthen the individual family.
10. We will plan for and work to nurture life through deep Christian
relationships. We seek to help each Christian discover their gifts, passion
and ministry.
